KENT — The Board of Selectmen passed a motion at their meeting on Tuesday, March 5, to bring bonding of $2.9 million for sidewalk renovations to a town-wide vote.

“In the absence of an appropriation of funds, we cannot move this project forward any further,” explained town Treasurer Barbara Herbst. “There’s nothing more we can do.”

“We need to find out if our tax base is willing to buy into this project by giving them an opportunity to vote yes or no on the funding,” she continued.

Jumping for joy — and healthy hearts


KENT — The gymnasium at Kent Center School was filled with jumping and laughing children on the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 4. Students in grades two through six were there participating in the Jump Rope for Heart program sponsored by the American Heart Association.
The program, which coordinates events at any school that is interested, is aimed at both raising money and spreading awareness about heart disease. The 150 children who participated at the Kent Center School event had the option of raising funds or simply participating for fun.
